Rates rebate calculator

Use the calculator to work out how much you might get as a rates rebate. This is an estimate only — your council will assess the actual amount when you apply.

Information you need for the calculator

You need the following information when you use the calculator:

  • the total rates you’ll pay for the current rating year — 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025
  • the number of dependants living with you on 1 July 2024

Enter the total rates you will pay for the current rating year. This could be a combination of local, regional or water rates. Find this information on the bill from your council.

A dependant is a child (under 18 years) or relative who usually lives with you — this includes children in shared care. Your spouse or partner is not a dependant.

This is the total income before tax (gross) that you and your spouse/partner or joint homeowners living at the property received in the previous tax year.

Application deadline — 30

You can apply between 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025. If you miss a deadline, you cannot get a rebate for previous years.
